Yooooo! Good morning IG/Hoopers! Happy Friday! Today’s quote is a little different. For some reason, people feel the need to be motivated to do the things that they “want” to do! That’s odd to me. Quick story: when I played for the NY Liberty my teammates were in an uproar because our coach wouldn’t even attempt at motivating us. 2 things… yes, leaders should be motivating and encouraging. But, you should motivate YOURSELF! If we haven’t won a championship, shouldn’t THAT be motivation for us to go out and play hard, crash the boards, play good defense, take the right shots, etc? Or should we have to be convinced to do those things?
The same goes for you all. Yes, it’s Friday, the end of the week, yaaaay! But, have you secured your high school, secured a scholarship, did you get drafted yesterday, did you resign your contract? If the answer is no, that should be motivation enough for you. We have to stop looking for others to motivate us and look within ourselves, and our current situation and our desires, and find inspiration there. I’ll be here to motivate you daily, BUT, let my motivation be secondary. Have your motivation and the primary source!
