Maintenance Cost
When you’re working to be a great player, a great shooter, a great ball handler or even rebounder, you don’t arrive at “great” status and then relax. You have to maintain that status. There’s no way you can become a great shooter, and then remain a great shooter without putting in work. A lot of players get in trouble, or find themselves on the bench because they’re not consistent. A coach wants to know what he/she is going to get from you, game after game. So it’s not enough to shoot well tonight and not tomorrow, and that be the pattern. You have to put in the work so the YOU (along with your coaches and teammates) will know what kind of player you are. You have to maintain your greatness… and there’s a cost associated with that. Yea, you may need to go to the gym and make 500 shots daily. But you’ll also need to make 50 1 dribble pull ups (both directions) 50 2 dribble pull ups (both directions), 50 step back jumpers (both ways), 50 “signature move” jumpers, and 100 free throws. But that’s only if you’re trying to get to and maintain your greatness. You have to fight to stay in that elite spot. So think about if you want to become/maintain “great” shooter status. Are you going to pay for it? Think about if you want to become/maintain “great” rebounder status. Are you willing to pay for it? Think about if you still want to become/maintain “elite” player status and what all comes with that. Can you afford to pay for it. Givin’ that work isn’t something that people dish out without first paying for it!
