Iron Sharpens Iron
Good morning Hoopers! We must know that there is mutual benefit in the rubbing of two iron blades together… the edges become sharper, making the knives more efficient in their task to cut and slice. The same applies with hoopers. Sometimes we don’t want to go to certain program, schools, or workouts because there is a certain player there. We don’t want to go because that player plays the same position. We don’t want to go because you won’t be the superstar because they have better players. First, I would say you need to believe in yourself and YOUR abilities. But second, surrounding yourself with other good players, and even better players, allows you to “sharpen your iron” or improve your game. Practicing scoring, rebounding and defending with your sub par teammates DOES NOT prepare you for where you say you want to go. Yes, playing on a terrible team will get you some recognition… but what about the next level when coaches recognize that you can’t play with good players? Have enough confidence in your game, your iron, your knife, to allow it to be sharpened by like players.
