Getting knocked down is not a choice… It is going to happen. It is one of those adverse situations that you wish you weren’t dealing with. It’s when someone pulls the rug from right beneath you. It’s when you get injured and you’re out for the rest of the season. It’s when you’re being criticized from media outlets and your teammates are agreeing with them. It’s when you feel like (and the stats prove) that this has been your worse season of basketball ever. You’ve fallen. You’re down. But you’re not out for the count… not if you don’t want to be. Not if there’s a burning desire for success. Not if your passion is fueling you. You get up. Whether you kick it on the ground (in a depression) or you rise above (happiness), it’s up to you. But that journey that you take while you’re in the process of getting up is where the changes come from. There are experiences that you will have that will make you stronger, better, more efficient, etc because you have fallen and got back up again. You will realize some strengths that you have because you have fallen and got back up again. You will learn who your friends really are, and who is in your corner, because you’ve fallen and got back up again. Through your “getting back up” process, you will find change. And that’s where the focus should lie. Everyone falls, so don’t worry about that. But what you do when you fall, whether you stay there or get up, that’s where your change (bad or good) will happen.
