We have to be careful of the company that we keep, because they can influence us without our consent.

Do you know why your parents don’t want you to hang around certain crowds? Because you will grow comfortable with their actions and behaviors. So, when there are groups of kids that might get in trouble in school, at home, or with the law, parents don’t want you to surround yourself with that, fearful that it may be you one day. The same rules apply to basketball players or athletes in general. When you grow close to “basketball slackers” it is very easy for you to slack. Even if you don’t slack off how they may be slacking, you’re still not giving your all, and that’s a slacker’s mentality. On the flip side, when you surround yourself with basketball junkies, hard workers, players hungry for success, you’re encouraged to take on their same habits. Now when their asking to hangout, it’s at the gym putting up shots. When they say what are you doing? it’s not always to see your shopping availability or if you want to catch a movie. It’s to get better in basketball… prepare for their future.

Choose wisely who you will allow to influence your life… because some changes will be made (good or bad) before you even know it.
