Argument with the Past
Hoopers… People… Good morning! Let’s talk about resilience really quickly. We have to move on, bounce back, come back! We can’t get caught up in yesterday’s problems or last game’s complications. We have to focus on today’s victories and tomorrow’s successes. We can’t lose sleep over the lack of playing time that we received yesterday… more so, what are you going to do about getting minutes today? We can’t agonize over your coach calling you out in front of the team last game… instead, how do you flip that into a learning experience for next game? We can’t whine about your teammates’ behaviors in practice earlier… alternatively, how can you be a better leader and a better example?
Here’s the thing… there literally is NOTHING that you can do about a situation from the past except for make your today and tomorrow better for having been in that situation. We have to move forward and stop fighting with the past. Arguing is never fun… but it’s really not fun when you don’t win the argument. And if you’re going to be Debbie Downer and suffer over something that has already happened, consider yourself fighting a fight that you will not win. Don’t do that! LEARN! LET GO! LEAVE!
