We have to figure out who we are and be that person. There’s no time to try to be a player that you are not. Don’t misunderstand me though… You can take attributes from other players that you feel will help your game all day long. If you want a Steph Curry jump shot, Kyrie handles, and Chris Paul IQ, there’s nothing wrong with that. But you cannot be them. You have to be you because that’s who you will always be… you. Have you heard the saying that goes “be yourself… everyone else is already taken” before? That’s the truth! You have to get comfortable in your own skin while always trying to better yourself.
Really, it’s the mindset that’s behind why you are bettering yourself. Even when you say, I want to be “So in So” it’s because you’re trying to better yourself. But we have to go about that differently. Being someone else is an unrealistic and frustrating goal that no one should ever set. Your mind gets wrapped up on the player instead of the skills to be developed and it’s a train wreck after a certain point. You are you… you always will be. So be the best you you can be!
